Widening the Marketing Lens Thanks to C.K. Prahalad

One of the most innovative business thinkers of this generation, C.K. Prahalad, passed away in April. He left behind brilliant research, insights, and guidance for future business leaders. During my MBA, Prahalad’s idea of creating low cost products to meet the needs of the world’s billions of underserved consumers disrupted current product development strategy and widened the marketing lens.

His ideas gave the "base of the pyramid" a voice, as he illustrated how to meet the needs of people that live on less than $1US a day and how to make money while you do it. A brilliant evolution of sustainability concepts at work. If you have the opportunity during your MBA in the USA, I highly recommend taking at least one class on sustainable business. I was so fascinated by the approach of people, planet, and profit I took enough classes to earn a specialization in the topic. Good stuff!
