Welcome Back from Summer Break

I stopped blogging this summer for the first time in six years. What did I do instead? I led webinars for UN World Culture Day that helped over 500 people learn more about working effectively on diverse teams. I read, mostly fiction like “The Invention of Wings,” but also nonfiction like, “Quiet: the power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking.” I practiced yoga in Croatia and visited London-based Kenan-Flagler friends that I haven’t seen since graduation. And, I thought.

I thought about you. I thought about rising second year international students working in US companies for the first time. I thought about first years getting off planes and realizing how far they are from home. I thought about communicating, culture shock, and new adventures. I thought about what I could do to help.

Welcome. We are happy you are here, both in the USA and on this website. I’m looking forward to supporting you this year. As always, I’ll be writing about building networks, finding jobs, and having fun in the USA. If there are specific topics you would like me to cover, please let me know. I’m here to help.
