Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management Celebrates Centennial

School honors 100 years of innovation and collaboration while preparing leaders for a world of change

Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management — a business school synonymous with innovation in management education — today (Oct 10, 2008) commemorates the launch of its centennial celebration. During the coming academic year, Kellogg will honor its role in defining the management education landscape with a series of academic and social events around the globe through June 2009.

“As we celebrate our centennial anniversary, we reflect on ways in which Kellogg has pioneered the management education space while looking ahead at how we will continue to evolve the MBA degree,” said Dipak C. Jain, dean of the Kellogg School of Management. “Kellogg is a different kind of business school, dedicated to the ideal that graduates can be a force for positive social change in the world. In times of economic uncertainty such as this, it is imperative that the next generation of business leaders not only has the greater good in mind, but also can work in teams to effectively address new challenges. These qualities define the Kellogg graduate, and will continue to do so into the next century.”

As Kellogg looks to the future, its task is clear: to build on the successes of the last 100 years while bringing business management into a new era, one with unique challenges and opportunities. Kellogg is uniquely positioned to do this with its strong global footprint that includes partnerships with schools operating in Asia, Europe, Middle East, and North America.

In expanding globally to meet the needs of today’s changing business landscape, Kellogg challenges its students to think beyond business and demonstrates the importance of going “beyond conventional success” to make contributions of lasting significance for society. To that end, Kellogg will continue to offer a curriculum that provides students with the ability to leverage disciplined, analytical thinking to create sustainable social value, following Dean Jain’s vision that the pursuit of linking profits with passion and purpose become the “DNA” of management education in the 21st century.

Kellogg — a vanguard of management education since its founding in 1908 and one of the world’s premier business schools — was the first business school to create a student-centric culture, with a strong emphasis on teamwork. The School began as a part-time evening business program — rather modest, but with great aspirations shared by a handful of Northwestern University professors and commercial leaders who made a commitment to bring something new into the world.

With the help of a holistic curriculum and world-class faculty, Kellogg equips students with the skills and values to step into any organization, at any stage in their career, and make a significant contribution.   1. After reading Tom and Jack rtcenely I picked up a book by Poul Erik Tojner called Munch In HIs Own Words . His treatment and writing are amazing and expressive in the way of the painter. I really think Pollack in some ways reached that state of freedom so often discussed in art. The unconstrained passion in his work unequaled in my humble opinion. That’s what I love about art and artists. The emotional connection one feels when an artists moves you. I don’t think Pollack ever tried to be anything other than what he was. A fiery ball of barely controlled fury. A pure animal of art painting out his soul for all to see. Yet he’s constantly reaching out to you, his fellow man, asking if you can (as he knows you must) see what he sees and feel what he feels.
