An MBA’s Prayer for Her Future Self

Oh, Stephanie Horvath, you inspire me as if you were Tina Fey herself.

Tina Fey’s Bossypants is one of my favorite audio books of the year. It’s a fascinating tale of work and growing up as a woman in a man’s world. And, of course, the Mother’s Prayer for Her Child is a highlight. I actually read it out loud to my mom when she was visiting just last week.

Thank you for translating Tina’s prayer for us in An MBA’s Prayer for Her Future Self (first discovered on Beat the GMAT.)

Here’s my favorite bit…

"Make me brave enough to pursue my passion (after I pay off my student loans, of course) and not surrender to the corporate treadmill of carrots, sticks and golden handcuffs. Give me the strength to one day leave my cushy, regular paycheck to chase my dreams of entrepreneurship, start-ups, social enterprise and novel writing."

If this piece is any indicator, I believe your dreams are closer than you think. Best of luck to you!

  1. Thanks so much for your kind words! I enjoyed writing the MBA prayer and the response has been really lovely. It’s good to know so many people feel the same way.

  2. Hi Stephanie, It’s great to hear from you, and you’re very welcome for the words of encouragement! I agree; it is good to know other MBAs want to stay true to their values throughout their careers. I updated my link to go directly to your blog with a credit to the source where I originally read it. I’m looking forward to reading more of your work!
